This story map is based on my 2015 article “Al-Miknāsī’s Mediterranean Mission: Negotiating Moroccan Temporal and Spiritual Sovereignty in the Late Eighteenth Century”, Penn State University Press. It tracks Ibn Uthman al-Miknasi’s ambassadorial journey across Spain in the eighteenth century, highlighting how past religio-cultural history collides with his contemporary geo-political sensibilities to form a highly ambivalent and dynamic worldview.

If you would like to learn more about story maps as a possible pedagogical tool for the classroom, do not hesitate to contact me. I am creating templates and guidelines to help systematize these types of visual mapping projects.
